Do you know about A ROCHA?

A Rocha UK is a Christian charity working for the protection of the natural world. They do this by practical involvement in conservation projects in many parts of the world. I am a keen supporter of their work and believe in what they stand for. The editor of their magazine has been kind enough to include some of my photos in recent editions of the A ROCHA magazine "Root and Branch" including the one of a bee orchid (above) in their 20 year celebratory magazine..

A wildlife calendar for 2023

I have produced a Wildlife Calendar for 2023 using pictures taken in the UK during 2022. I ordered about 80 copies from Photobox and all but one have ben distributed to members of Christ church, Clifton and to friends and relations. Some of what has been paid for the calendar(s) goes to the  Children's Home in Sri Lanka which I have supported for many years. .

Bristol's wildlife in lockdown

There is a wealth of wildlife here in Bristol if you know where to look. On The Downs here, there is much flora and fauna to discover as I found out in the Spring of 2020 when we were in lockdown. One highlight was the opportunity to get to know a family of foxes in Bristol (see above),

Wildlife talks for 2023

The selection of talks in the LECTURES section should give plenty of scope for both specialist Natural History societies and other organisations such as Probus Clubs, WIs, Church groups and U3A organisations. However, if you need to, do talk to me about other topics in the world of wildlife and conservation and I will try to do my best to provide the talk that you wish.

Help protect elephants and rhinos

THOUSANDS of elephants died at the hands of poachers every year and many hundreds of (mainly)white rhinos are killed in South Africa. The BORN FREE foundation says "Unless the international community takes urgent action to shut down the global ivory and rhino horn markets.....we will the last generation to see these magnificent animals in the wild" . The trade in "old" ivory which Britain still allows is helping to legitimise the worldwide trade in new elephant ivory. Please do all you can to make this known.

All my photobooks are published by Bob books so just go to their website. At the welcome page, click on BOOKSHOP at the top. Then enter my "nom de plume" – zoopenguinwatcher - in the Search box. All my books will then be revealed! Click on any book and you can scroll through it. If any books are purchased, they are printed specially which is why they are a bit expensive!
